- The head of the Ministry of Transport informed about the leading positions of the Russian Federation in the field of unmanned vehicles
Russia is one of the three leading countries in the field of unmanned transport development. This was announced on November 6 by the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Andrey Nikitin.
"We are one of the three leading countries in the development of unmanned vehicles. We are the first in some technologies, and the third in others. In general, we are moving at a good pace," he said.
According to Nikitin, this list also includes China and the United States. In addition, the United Arab Emirates is actively developing in this area.
The head of the Ministry of Transport also noted that unmanned vehicles are not a separate type, since they perform all the same movement. He noted that the ministry and the Moscow government are working together on a federal law that will be able to create a legal basis for the introduction of unmanned technologies in the transport sector.
According to him, in order to develop in this area, it is necessary to ensure its safety. Nikitin suggested that in the next four years, unmanned vehicles will not go beyond the "corridors". Despite this, there are plans to introduce "self-employment" in the field of housing and communal services.
"The Ministry of Agriculture is jointly shaping the demand for them. As soon as there was a clear request, a business model of application appeared, an economy appeared - colleagues formulated requirements for us, and we are now introducing these requirements into the air regulations," Nikitin said.
On October 1, Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev said that the Russian transport complex occupies a leading position in the world in introducing advanced digital technologies. According to Saveliev, one of the most important areas is the Unmanned Logistics Corridors project, which has developed a roadmap for the development of highly automated vehicles until 2028. Currently, there are 90 unmanned trucks operating on the roads and landfills of Russia, which have covered more than 8.5 million km in 2.5 years.
