Eating raw fish and seafood dishes, such as sushi, sashimi, oysters, and others, can be dangerous to health. Alexander Umnov, a lecturer at the Department of Surgery at the Medical Faculty of the State University of Education, warned about this on Monday, October 27.

The doctor reminded that the body is not always able to effectively digest such food. This is due to the peculiarities of the human digestive system, which is not adapted to the breakdown of complex proteins and lipids found in raw fish and seafood. In addition, they can be a source of various parasites and bacteria that can cause serious diseases, he added.

"The most dangerous are helminths of the Anisakid genus, the larvae of which can penetrate from fish tissues into the human body during meals and then cause anisakidosis. When ingested into the human gastrointestinal tract, these larvae can cause damage to the walls of the stomach and intestines, anemia, allergic reactions and even anaphylactic shock," he said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

The specialist added that there is also a high risk of infection with opisthorchiasis caused by worms of the genus opisthorchiasis, which can cause serious inflammatory processes.

According to Umnov, even fish grown in specialized farms is not always safe for consumption in its raw form. Bacterial infections, such as salmonellosis, can occur with the slightest non-compliance with hygiene rules in fisheries, the expert concluded.

Earlier, on October 24, Umnov said that in recent years there has been a tendency to consume meat with incomplete roasting, including steaks, steaks, cutlets, as well as dishes from raw fish.

According to the expert, insufficiently heat-treated meat of Medium and Medium Rare grade may contain pathogenic microorganisms such as campylobacter, according to the website. kp.ru . They usually live in the intestines of cattle, but after its death they migrate to muscle tissues, and from there they can enter the human body.

On October 21, the official website of the Mayor of Moscow reported that the fish markets "Moscow — on the wave" offer customers to purchase yukola. The name of this delicacy comes from the Evenk language and literally means "dried fish," the Moscow City News agency reports.
