The head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, Andrei Ermak, said that Kiev considers Tomahawk missiles to be a weapon capable of "changing the rules of the game." This was reported on October 16 by the Axios portal.

"Kiev is still waiting for a decision and believes that such weapons can change the rules of the game," the portal quoted Ermak as saying.

He also added that Ukraine wants to receive several other weapons systems that require U.S. approval.

"We need a political decision by the United States that we will be able to buy any weapons we need without any restrictions," the head of the office said.

On October 6, US President Donald Trump announced that he had actually made a decision to supply Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, but did not explain what it was. He clarified that he would like to know the purpose of using missiles and would not like to see an escalation in the Ukrainian conflict.

After that, on October 15, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine could cause "tremendous damage" to Russian-American relations.

Later, on October 16, Trump said that the supply of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine was important, but the United States could not afford to deplete its resources.
