The reconstruction project of Petrovsky stadium was frozen in St. Petersburg
The reconstruction project of Petrovsky stadium was frozen due to insufficient funding. This was announced on October 3 by Alexander Belsky, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, in an interview with the Sports Expert newspaper.
"There was a project, <...> now it is insufficiently funded in order to implement it, so the project is still frozen," he told the publication, and the chairman posted an interview fragment on his Telegram channel.
Belsky noted that St. Petersburg is not abandoning plans for the reconstruction of Petrovsky. According to him, the main task is to prevent the transfer of the sports cluster site for other purposes.
Earlier, on September 28, Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports and Chairman of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), noted that 500 large capital facilities, 1,700 outdoor playgrounds, smart playgrounds, and TRP sites had been built across the country in five years. He added that in the next three years it is planned to build 200 more capital facilities, 1.6 thousand sites of various types, 89 modular pools.
