New road signs in Russia — what will change from January 1, 2026
New road signs will appear in Russia in 2026. All of them are listed in the amendments to GOST published on the website of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology. Read about how the rules of the road will change in the Izvestia article.
New road signs in 2026
Starting from January 1, Russia will update the list of road signs. The changes will affect existing signs, as well as introduce new ones.:
- months will be added to the sign indicating the time of operation of the road sign at certain hours or days of the week (for example, "September – December");
- In narrow places where it is impossible to install a horizontal Stop Line sign, a vertical version of this sign will appear.;
- The new sign "Recommended speed when driving through artificial bumps" will help drivers avoid damage on speed bumps and other obstacles.;
- The new "Deaf" sign will inform about pedestrians with hearing impairments.
In addition, it will be possible to combine some signs into one to reduce visual noise that distracts drivers. For example, a parking sign can be combined with a "Way to park a vehicle."
As Pavel Fedyaev, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Transport and Transport Infrastructure Development, explained in an interview with TASS, the new signs have been developed for three years.
"We hope that the new GOST will become a real tool for reducing accidents and saving human lives," the agency quoted him as saying.
Changes in parking rules along the edge of the road from 2026
The changes, which will take effect in 2026, affect not only road signs, but also parking markings. According to the updated GOST, with sequential parking along the edge of the road, the width of the parking space should be 2.25 m, whereas previously this figure was 2.5 m. The length of the space for one car will remain unchanged at 6.5 m.
Earlier, the Ministry of Industry and Trade published a list of cars that comply with the new law on taxi localization.
