Hockey club (HC) Washington has included striker and team captain Alexander Ovechkin, who is recovering from an injury, in the bid for the National Hockey League (NHL) preseason match against Boston. This became known on October 2.

It is noted that the hockey player will play in preseason matches for the first time.

"The Washington–Boston match will be held on Friday, October 3, and will begin at 02:00 Moscow time," Sport-Express reported.

On September 18, it was reported that the hockey player left training at the team's training camp due to a "lower body injury." Then the Washington Capitals started training in preparation for the new NHL season, which will begin on October 7.

On September 20, it was reported that Ovechkin was not included in the application for the Washington Capitals vs. Boston Bruins match. As a result, the Russian hockey player did not attend the first preseason match of the team.

On September 28, Ovechkin already had a full-fledged training session on the ice after his injury.
