The number of road accidents and deaths in road accidents in Russia decreased by 9%. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I would like to note one more very important point: despite the fact that over the past five years, the number of cars has increased by 9%, transportation on the roads has increased by 36%, the mobility of the population has increased from 30 to 100% in some areas, the number of accidents and deaths have decreased by 9%," — The Kremlin's website quotes Khusnullin as saying.

According to Khusnullin, the road construction program was exceeded in the Russian Federation in 2025. The road repair schedule is scheduled for six years ahead.

The Deputy Prime Minister also reported to the president on the 21% advance in the commissioning and repair of roads in the country and spoke about the work on major infrastructure projects.

Earlier, on September 16, it was reported that the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are developing a bill that plans to change the rules for recognizing road sections as accident hotbeds.
