- The economist spoke about the reasons for the decline in quotations on the Russian stock market.
The Russian stock market opened with a slight decline on Monday, raising questions from investors about further fluctuations. Alexey Lossan, an analyst at the Compare financial marketplace, said on September 29 that he expects a possible corrective recovery if the geopolitical situation stabilizes.
"Over the coming week, the Russian stock market may begin a corrective recovery — in the event of stabilization of the geopolitical situation, as well as the initiative of some investors to open short-term long positions, which may support the growth of the Moscow Exchange index to the 2,800—point zone," Lossan said.
However, the expert warns that the stability of the uptrend remains questionable. No factors are expected to appear in the near future that could lead to a steady increase in the Moscow Exchange index above 2,800 points. Lossan also stressed that the impact of external economic factors, such as fluctuations in international markets, will continue to be important for Russian investors.
On September 29, the Russian stock market showed a decline at the beginning of the morning session, losing 0.8%. It was noted that the ruble index of the Moscow Stock Exchange with an additional code (iMOEX2) decreased by 0.73% by 07:10 Moscow time, dropping to 2891.31 points.
