The introduction of automatic cancellation of driver's licenses for medical reasons is a major change that will affect the rights of many citizens. This was announced on September 29 by the head of the law firm Shabanova and Partners, Victoria Shabanova.

"The cancellation of a driver's license is not a deprivation of rights. The following consequences follow from this. Prohibition on driving a vehicle. As soon as the license is revoked, the person loses the legal right to drive a car. Accordingly, the following consequences follow from this: a trip after that will be equated to driving without rights (part 1 of Article 12.7 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation), which entails a fine of five to 15 thousand rubles," said Shabanova.

To restore the rights, it will be necessary to repeat the entire medical procedure, including obtaining appropriate certificates. Problems may arise for those citizens whose professional duties require constant management of transport, such as drivers of official cars, truckers and taxi drivers. In this case, the employer will need to immediately suspend the employee from work, and in some cases, dismiss him.

"The most common problems will result from misdiagnoses or technical errors during data transmission, as well as failure to provide information about diseases that have already been cured," the lawyer said.

In such situations, Shabanova recommends contacting a doctor to find out which diagnosis served as the basis for revocation of rights, and then undergo a medical examination and, if necessary, go to court to challenge the decision.
