The Russian Armed Forces found the only survivor of the Ukrainian Armed Forces unit near Seversk.

The only surviving serviceman of the 81st separate airmobile brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) was discovered by fighters of the "Southern" group of troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation near the city of Seversk, Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was stated on September 29 by a captured Ukrainian militant in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"Out of six positions, there were up to four of us in each position. I was the only one left and survived. <...> Later, the stormtroopers found me and took me out of hiding, it turns out they saved me from death," the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter said.

The prisoner of war, whose name was not disclosed, clarified that he refused to follow the orders of his command, barricading himself in a shelter he regularly reinforced, created by him from bags of chalk.

On September 25, Dmitry Ryumshin, the former commander of the 155th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is being investigated for mass desertion in the ranks of his army, pointed out that the Ukrainian military had no confidence in its military and political leadership. He stressed that, first of all, the militants do not trust the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky.
