A Dutch journalist commented on a foreigner's article about Russia
When British journalist James Delingpole came to Russia, he completely changed his mind because he saw that 99% of what was written was untrue. This was reported to Izvestia on September 28 by Dutch investigative journalist Sonya van den Ende, commenting on Delingpole's article "Believe it or not, but Russia is great."
"It's very brave of him that he decided to go anyway, because, I understand, family, maybe friends strongly discouraged him," the journalist said.
In her opinion, when the Briton came to Russia, he completely changed his mind and saw that almost most of the information published in the Western media was untrue. She added that many people in the West represent Russia as the USSR.
"I always tell journalists and ordinary people, 'Come and see for yourself the truth, what Moscow is, what Russia is.' Because I visit St. Petersburg and other places, and when you arrive, you will realize that everything is not as it is written in newspapers or shown on TV," the journalist shared.
She noted that many people who come later tell her that Russia is a very modern country.
On September 28, Delingpole told The Spectator magazine about his admiration for the safety of Russian streets, contrasting this with the situation in the UK. The journalist praised the well-developed street infrastructure and called the Moscow metro "the best in the world."
