On September 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met with Eduard Bizimana, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi, as part of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York and discussed with him the further strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries.
"We have confirmed our joint commitment to deepening political dialogue and developing mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economic, humanitarian and other fields," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on its website.
During the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the international and regional agenda. The representatives discussed their willingness to strengthen foreign policy coordination at various meetings and forums.
On September 26, at the UN General Assembly, Lavrov discussed with Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar preparations for the Russian-Indian summit, which is scheduled for the end of this year. They also discussed topical issues on the international agenda, including the Ukrainian conflict and the situation in the Middle East.
