The State of Palestine will not be established west of the Jordan River. This was announced on September 21 by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"You (the countries that recognized the statehood of Palestine. — Ed.) you give a huge reward to terrorism. And I have one more message for you: this is not going to happen. A Palestinian state will not be created west of Jordan," the Ynet news agency quoted him as saying.

Netanyahu stressed that he would respond to the "attempt to create a terrorist state" after his return from the United States.

Earlier that day, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom recognized the statehood of Palestine. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stressed that the joint efforts of the three countries are aimed at creating a new impetus for a two-state solution, which will include a cease-fire in Gaza and the release of hostages captured by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

Netanyahu later called the creation of a Palestinian state a threat to Israel's existence. According to him, Tel Aviv will respond to calls for the creation of a Palestinian state at a conference of world leaders in the coming days.
