The second backup high-voltage external power supply line of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant "Ferroalloy-1", which has been disconnected for the fifth month, is damaged in the territory controlled by Ukraine. This was announced on September 20 by Yuri Chernichuk, Director of the ZAES.

"The damage site, according to our data, is located on the other side of the river [Dnieper], that is, in the territory controlled by Ukraine. Whether it will be restored will not be — it will be a decision either by some international agreement or by that party," the TASS news agency quoted the director as saying.

He also stressed that if Kiev refuses to restore the backup line, measures will be taken at the station to develop and implement compensating measures for the absence of that line, too.

However, according to the director, the opportunity to carry out this work will appear only after the cessation of hostilities.

Earlier, on May 7, it was reported that the Ferroalloy-1 high-voltage line, which provided the station's needs, was disabled by the protection action at the NPP. It was clarified that the equipment was maintained in accordance with all necessary regulations under strict control of radiation safety standards.
