- The Ambassador announced the intention of Palestine to work on the VKS at the UN General Assembly in case of visa refusal
If the United States does not issue visas to representatives of Palestine to participate in the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), members of its delegation will join the event via video conferencing (VCS). This was announced on September 19 by the Palestinian Ambassador to Russia, Abdel Hafiz Nofal.
"Today they have to decide officially, but it is clear that they will not be given out. If they don't, we'll connect via video conferencing. Because this meeting will be very important for the country," TASS quoted him as saying.
He also noted that Israel is gradually losing its position in Europe, and therefore more and more states will begin to recognize and support Palestine.
"Israel has begun to lose relations with Europe and even with the United States. We are sure that the countries of Europe, Australia, Canada will begin to recognize Palestine, because they see what is really happening. Israel is losing relations in all directions," said the head of the Palestinian diplomatic mission.
The Arab News newspaper reported on September 18 that members of the US Senate from the Democratic Party intend to introduce a resolution recognizing Palestine as a sovereign state. According to the resolution, in order to recognize Palestine, it is necessary to demilitarize it and release the hostages. The law appeared on the eve of the UN General Assembly, where the Palestinian-Israeli conflict will be discussed. On this day, the United States again vetoed the UN Security Council resolution on the ceasefire in Gaza. All other states, including permanent members Russia, China, Great Britain and France, have approved the document.
Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, said it was impossible to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip unless the United States changed its position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He also noted that "a strike on Doha would invalidate any claims about Israel's readiness for a diplomatic solution to the conflict."
