A cold snap is expected in Moscow by the end of September, but it is premature to talk about snow. In an interview with Izvestia on September 17, Tatyana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist of Meteonosti, questioned reports from some media outlets about possible snowfall in the capital at the end of the month.

"As for the first snowfall, I question these data. Although temperatures may drop during the night hours at the end of September, no significant precipitation is expected. In principle, snowflakes may swirl in some years, but I don't really trust these forecasts about the first snow at the end of September," Pozdnyakova said.

The forecaster explained that with the beginning of the astronomical autumn on September 23, the temperature will actually drop: daytime readings will be +10 ... +12 degrees, night — from +2 to +7 degrees.

"So far, negative temperatures are not expected, so I think it's too early to think about snow," the specialist stressed.

On September 16, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, said that cloudy and cooler weather is expected in the central part of the Russian Federation by the end of the week. At the same time, heavy precipitation is also not predicted.
