In Russia, a model for the development of high-speed railways (HSR) should be worked out, six months are given for work, after which proposals should be submitted to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced on September 16 by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during the strategic session "Development of high-speed transport".

"For this purpose, large-scale tasks are being implemented within the framework of the new national projects "Efficient Transport System" and "Infrastructure for Life". First of all, the largest supporting road network is being built, which will connect the whole of Russia. Railways are being built, including in the Far East," the Prime Minister said.

Modern solutions and innovations provide an additional impetus to domestic science and industry, and generally strengthen technological sovereignty, Mishustin said.

"We are intensifying our efforts to develop technologies for faster travel, and the high-speed rail development scheme has been approved by the president. The total length of the future networks should exceed 4.5 thousand km," the head of government said.

Thanks to this initiative, highways will be built from Moscow to Minsk, as well as to Yekaterinburg, Adler and Ryazan. They will merge with the existing transport infrastructure of the country and provide new opportunities for more than 100 million people.

"Over the next six months, it is necessary to complete a detailed study of this promising model, establish the stages and priorities of the directions and submit appropriate proposals to the head of state. The implementation of the projects will have a significant impact on the economy, the social sphere, and the development of the tourism potential of our country," Mishustin said.

In early September, preparations for the creation of a high-speed railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg were discussed at a meeting on the implementation of the project. One of the main tasks was the construction of the first Russian high-speed train, the production of which began at the plant in Verkhnyaya Pyshma. Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Saveliev said that according to the schedule, 28 high-speed trains will be built and put into operation by 2028.

On July 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin demanded to specify the time frame for the examination of the high-speed railway project. Saveliev said that the end of the examination is scheduled for September 15.
