The Omoda C7 Kaliningrad-built crossover has been certified in Russia.
Russia has launched production of the Omoda C7 crossover at the Kaliningrad Avtotor plant, the Chinese Cars portal reported on September 15. The localization of the model in the country has not been officially announced.
According to the publication, Baltavto, a company affiliated with Avtotor Holding, has received Vehicle Type Approval for the Omoda C7 crossover. This document allows you to start mass sales of cars in the Russian Federation and the EAEU countries, followed by obtaining vehicle passports. It is assumed that the first batches of Omoda C7 with Russian VIN numbers will soon appear in the car dealerships of the brand.
It is noted that the production of cars was launched back in August, before the official completion of the certification process. To do this, Avtotor has set up six robotic welding lines and a paint complex with a capacity of 200,000 bodies per year.
Omoda C7 is the latest model in the brand's line, its sales started in Russia at the end of May this year, the cars are supplied from China.
On August 19, it became known that Omoda was recalling C7 crossovers in Russia. On cars, it is required to replace the plastic steering wheel cover assembly with the driver's front airbag.
