People's Artist of Russia Vladimir Steklov regularly faced Russophobic attacks from his Ukrainian colleagues when he came to shoot in Ukraine even before the start of the special operation. He told about it in the new issue of the podcast "Lime".

According to the actor, his Ukrainian colleagues demanded "not to pronounce the Russian phrase" and to answer the question "Whose Crimea is it?"

"There were many Russian-Ukrainian projects before the start of the SVR. It was filmed in Ukraine because it's cheaper. Three or four Russian stars, and makeup artists, sound engineers, cameramen and others are Ukrainians. At the same time, they said: "Why are you here? Why did you come here? Filming? Do you need to earn money?" I say, "No, you need to earn money. You have no cinema, nothing," said Steklov.

The actor also said that one of his daughters was shocked by the Russophobic statements of the Ukrainian actress Ada Rogovtseva, with whom she played in the same play for a long time.

At the same time, he noted that he has great respect for the Ukrainian language and does not support the proposal to ban the rotation of Ukrainian songs on Russian radio stations.

Earlier, on September 10, Russian Adelia Muslimova, in an interview with Izvestia, said that in February 2023 she applied to a grooming salon in Chicago to trim a cat, but ran into a Ukrainian employee who refused to provide services after learning that Muslimova was from Russia. The girl sued the company for discrimination and in July 2025 won the case, receiving $20,000 in compensation. Muslimova shared that during all this time, the Ukrainian woman did not try to get in touch and make amends.
