- Akhmedova, a member of the Human Rights Council, announced the philologists' refusal to investigate Rogozin's comment.
Philologists refused to investigate the comment of Evgenia Rogozina, an arrested resident of Udmurtia (listed as an extremist and terrorist by Rosfinmonitoring). This was reported to Izvestia on September 9 by Marina Akhmedova, a journalist and member of the Human Rights Council (HRC) under the President of the Russian Federation.
"We tried to order a philological examination, but the philologists refused to take up the case for money, because they did not know what to investigate. Just two words— "burn the witch." Moreover, these are such common words as the phrase "you're a jerk on your tongue," she shared.
According to her, the expression "burn a witch" is found on the Internet regularly. Akhmedova stressed that this is why the HRC paid attention and began work on this incident. In particular, she shared that Rogozin's husband addressed her as a member of the Human Rights Council, so the appeal was accepted. Akhmedova noted that she was surprised to read the letter.
The HRC member shared that she had heard about this case before and, in cooperation with the council, tried to study Rogozin's social media in order to understand if she was a political activist. According to her, Evgenia turned out to be an ordinary woman, a mother of two children, who worked as a saleswoman at a fishing store and helped participants in a special operation (SVO) and animals.
"In my opinion, Evgenia is a typical representative of the deep Russian people. <...> And I wanted this representative of the deep Russian people, to whom I consider myself, not to help, but simply to pay attention to her case and get some kind of philological examination of her words and bring her to the point that, if she It is necessary to punish so that this punishment is fair," Akhmedova stressed.
Earlier, on September 8, it became known that Rogozin sent a letter to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut asking her to forgive her. On August 25, she explained her comment with indignation at the increased cost of groceries. The woman clarified that she wrote the comment and forgot about it, and now, because of a few words, not only she suffers, but also her family, including children, spouse, brother and parents.
In November 2024, Rogozin commented on a post in which Loot explained the record increase in butter prices with an increase in the income level of Russians, with the words "burn the witch." In February of this year, a resident of Udmurtia was charged under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Public calls for terrorist activities using the Internet").
