BMW unveils first "new class" crossover
The new BMW iX3 crossover will go on sale in the spring of 2026, the brand's press service announced on September 5 during the world premiere of the electric car. This is the brand's first model built on the Neue Klasse ("new class") platform. It is equipped with advanced autonomous driving features and has four high-performance computers, which BMW calls "super brains."
It is claimed that the BMW iX3 will mark the beginning of a new brand design language, which will eventually be used throughout the brand's model range. The central element of the front's style is the sculptural vertical "nostrils", which refer to the brand's models from the 1960s.
The main feature of the interior is the BMW Panoramic iDrive display, which is located under the windshield from one pillar to the other. A 17.9-inch touchscreen is mounted in the center, and the steering wheel has an unusual design with vertical spokes. Optionally, a 3D display on the windshield, a Harman Kardon audio system with 13 speakers, a panoramic sunroof and three-zone climate control are provided.
The BMW iX3 is 4783 mm long and has a wheelbase of 2898 mm. The crossover received an all-wheel drive system with two electric motors with a total capacity of 469 hp and 645 Nm. The novelty accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 210 km/h. The power reserve on a single battery charge is stated at 805 km. The battery can charge from 10% to 80% in 21 minutes.
The crossover is promised advanced autopilot systems, and the model's software is planned to be updated over the air throughout its life cycle. Neue Class technologies will be implemented in a total of 40 new and updated models from now until 2027.
