UAZ cars have received a new domestic security system
UAZ Patriot, Pickup and Profi vehicles have received a new Russian anti-lock braking system. The active safety device was developed by "US Innovative Components" and put into mass production, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant said in a statement, which was received by Izvestia on September 3. Prior to that, the machines were equipped with a system from an eastern partner.
The NAMI-ABS-450 system is designed for SUVs and light commercial vehicles weighing no more than 4.5 tons. It prevents the wheels from locking during sudden braking and eliminates the risk of the car turning around when braking on roads with uneven pavement.
"The system analyzes data from wheel rotation speed sensors in real time and, using advanced algorithms, regulates the pressure in each circuit of the braking system so that the wheels do not lock and the car's handling is maintained," UAZ explained.

For implementation in production, specialists from FSUE NAMI and Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant carried out work on the calibration of the unit, firmware adaptation and testing. The system was tested throughout the year on surfaces with different coefficients of adhesion, as well as when separate friction occurs, when the coefficients of adhesion of the right and left wheels differ.
The ABS system was developed with the support of the Industrial Development Fund and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The engineering and production of the units are localized in Russia, the software is the know-how of FSUE NAMI.
Earlier, on August 22, it was reported that in the year of its 20th anniversary, UAZ Patriot will undergo modernization, updating not only the appearance, but also the range of power units. By the end of 2025, the SUV will receive a two-liter diesel engine.
