The harsh statements of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz about Russian President Vladimir Putin indicate a fit of insanity of the German leader. This was announced on September 3 by the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot.

"German Chancellor Merz is having an attack of insanity, who has just published an extremely aggressive and belligerent message addressed to Russia and Putin," the politician wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

According to Philippot, the Chancellor and other European leaders, including Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, intend to use provocations to send a foreign military contingent to Ukrainian territory. He added that the leaders of the countries already have an "agreed agenda" to increase tensions with Russia.

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that after Mertz's words to the Russian leader, his opinion was not taken into account. He noted that the Chancellor had made "a lot of bad statements" in recent hours.

On August 30, Merz called for increased economic pressure on Russia. At the same time, on August 26, he threatened to tighten anti-Russian sanctions in the absence of a meeting between Putin and Zelensky. The German Chancellor also called the proposal of US President Donald Trump for a trilateral meeting a logical next step in the settlement issue.
