The premiere of the Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk" proves that Moscow and Beijing have close ties and cultural cooperation is developing. On September 1, Russian Culture Minister Olga Lyubimova told Izvestia columnist Viktor Sineok about this.

"A film about the relationship, a historical film about the relationship between our countries, is, of course, additional attention for the high—level, close ties and cultural cooperation between Russia and China," she stressed.

The minister believes that Russian cinema has an advantage in this regard, because Soviet films are known and loved in China.

"The older generation knew and loved Soviet cinema. It is very important for us now to make sure that our paintings are loved by young Chinese children who go to this huge number of cinemas. Because when I talk to my colleagues, they remember so many Soviet films, quote them, and the leadership of this country remembers them with great love and warmth, and the Chinese leadership remembers them," she added.

Lyubimova noted that the creation of the film "Red Silk" was the first experience of such interaction between Moscow and Beijing, and the importance of the film is emphasized by the fact that the order for its joint creation was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"We know that China has the largest cinema chain in the world, with 90,000 cinemas, which is a fantastic number, but the Chinese cinema chain is also very strict," Lyubimova stressed.

According to her, the sequel to the film, which was called "Black Silk", is being prepared for filming.

On August 30, Putin announced that viewers in China will soon be able to see the Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk." He noted that in the future, Russia and China plan to release new joint films that will convey to the audience moral guidelines, traditional spiritual and moral values and the truth about key historical events.

The premiere of the film "Red Silk" in China will take place on September 4 at the main cinema of China Film Group, and on September 6 the film will be released in China.

Lyubimova, in an interview with Izvestia on May 8, called the Russian-Chinese film "Red Silk" the first large-scale blockbuster co-production and a "breakthrough" in cultural exchange between the states.
