Demand for cargo carsharing has increased in Russia
The popularity of the truck segment in carsharing has grown by 80% over the year, analysts of the Delimobil operator told Izvestia on September 2, comparing the figures for the second quarter of this year with the same period last year.
Analysts explained that the growing demand for freight transport rentals in the B2B segment is related to the general trend towards optimizing business costs. Many entrepreneurs, especially those with a seasonal nature of business, prefer corporate carsharing instead of maintaining their own fleet, which allows flexible cost management.
There were two peaks in demand in the cargo carsharing category. The first occurred in the summer months of this and last year, when kicksharing for the distribution of scooters, as well as construction and transport companies for the transportation of small goods, are actively using trucks. The second surge occurred in November and December 2024, when retail was in high season. Some entrepreneurs took cargo carsharing for one-time deliveries of goods to marketplace warehouses, and large businesses used Atlant cargo Sollers to temporarily build up their existing fleet in conditions of increased turnover.
The service is also in demand among individuals for one-time independent transportation of bulky goods, such as furniture or household appliances. For users, the average trip duration this year was 2.5 hours, while the average duration in corporate carsharing reaches almost 11 hours. Over the past year, freight carsharing users have traveled an average of more than 60 km per trip, while corporate customers have traveled 2.5 times more — about 150 km per trip.
Earlier, on August 23, Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry, said that over 10 years Muscovites and guests of the capital had made over 360 million trips by carsharing vehicles. The deputy mayor recalled that from September 1, users will begin to undergo a single verification through the portal. mos.ru .
