- The historian called the religious ritual of Polish bikers in the Tver region a demarche.
The religious ritual of Polish nationalist bikers at the memorial in the village of Mednoye, Tver region, is a demarche. Maxim Viktorovich, a member of the Russian Military Historical Society of the Tver Region, announced this in an interview with Izvestia on August 31.
"But it seems to me that this is some kind of disrespect for our laws and their own principles. <...> This is some kind of demarche due to the fact that the opinions of our experts who are doing some work, so to speak, to identify historical reality [differ]," he said.
According to the historian, there used to be bas-reliefs symbolizing Polish orders in front of the entrance to the memorial. He also clarified that the memorial complex itself was installed by the Polish authorities without proper approval. This, as the historian noted, is a violation.
Maxim Viktorovich also added that Russian scientists have not proven the presence of the remains of 6 thousand buried Poles, whose names are inscribed on the tablets.
On August 30, a group of Polish nationalist bikers staged a provocation at a memorial in the village of Mednoye in the Tver region. The bikers who arrived at the memorial first opened the barrier and entered the facility, despite the ban. After warning the guards, they put away their motorcycles and began to move around the memorial on foot. However, they soon began to hold a torchlight ceremony, which aroused the wariness of the people watching them. At the same time, Izvestia correspondent Leonid Kitrari noted that minors participated in the ritual of Polish bikers.
