The second woman accused the ICC prosecutor of harassment
Another woman has accused the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, of sexual harassment, a claim the suspect denies. This was reported by The Guardian on August 28.
"The woman claimed that, while working for a well—known British lawyer at the beginning of his career, he behaved inappropriately, subjecting her to unwanted sexual advances, abusing his power over her and repeatedly trying to exert sexual pressure on her," the publication reports.
The victim made the statement anonymously because she fears the consequences for her and her family. She spoke after reading about the recent allegations made against Khan by an ICC official.
"At that time, the woman was in her 20s, and she was working as an unpaid intern for Khan. He was a leading defense attorney at the ICC and other war crimes tribunals in The Hague, in particular, he represented former Liberian President Charles Taylor," the newspaper said.
On May 16, Reuters reported that Khan had temporarily left his post amid the final stage of an investigation by the United Nations (UN) into allegations of sexual harassment. It was clarified that Khan also conducted an interview with UN investigators, which is believed to be "the last" in the framework of an external investigation into the allegations.
