Magnetic storms in September 2025: daily forecast, human impact
The first month of autumn will greet Russians with magnetic storms. According to forecasts of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI and the ISSF, at least two periods of increased activity of the magnetosphere are expected in September. And although solar storms do not pose a threat to technology or artificial satellites, they can cause inconvenience to weather-dependent people. Izvestia talks about magnetic storms in September.
Magnetic storm forecast for September 2025
According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI and the ISSF, the first two days of September will be quiet. However, on September 3-4, geomagnetic activity will increase and on September 5 it will turn into a magnetic storm. The next storm will not take long to wait — according to forecasts, it will start on September 7. The disturbed state of the magnetosphere will persist on September 8-9, followed by a short period of calm.
Another magnetic storm awaits Russians on September 15. Disturbances in the magnetosphere are expected the day before, on September 14, and the day after, on September 16.
After that, the magnetosphere is expected to remain calm until the end of the month. However, it is important to understand that the forecast of geomagnetic activity may change over time, since accurate predictions are only possible within 3-4 days.
The effect of magnetic storms on humans
Scientists have not come to a consensus on whether magnetic storms affect humans. Nevertheless, during the period of increased geomagnetic activity, some people experience unpleasant symptoms such as headache, increased blood pressure, dizziness, fatigue, insomnia, anxiety, etc.
According to Rustem Gayfutdinov, a neurologist and associate professor of the Department of Neurology at Kazan State Medical University, it is recommended to reduce physical, mental and mental activity during magnetic storms. In a conversation with Izvestia, he stressed that the deterioration of well-being during a period of increased geomagnetic activity is primarily faced by the elderly and people suffering from chronic diseases.
"Especially in people with chronic diseases of the cardiovascular system, blood pressure, coronary artery disease, vascular diseases of the brain, and various types of diabetes, exacerbation and decompensation occur," he explained.
What to do during magnetic storms:
- drink at least 1.5 liters of water, do not skip meals;
- Include more vegetables, fruits, and other high-fiber foods in your diet, and avoid fatty, salty, sweet, and flour-based foods.;
- sleep at least 7-8 hours, observe the regime;
- avoid stress, overwork, and rest in a timely manner;
- do a light warm-up in between jobs.
Earlier, two flares of the penultimate power class were recorded on the Sun.
