The Ukrainian arrested in Italy led the bombing of the Nord Streams
A citizen of Ukraine, Sergey Kuznetsov, who was previously arrested in Italy in the case of the Nord Stream bombing, turned out to be the head of this operation and coordinated acts of sabotage. It follows from the European arrest warrant on August 27.
"Kuznetsov coordinated acts of sabotage and led the operation," RIA Novosti quoted a fragment of the document.
According to the materials, no later than September 8, 2022, the Ukrainian, along with his accomplices, boarded the port of Vik (Ryugen Island) to the Andromeda sailing yacht. After that, they installed at least four explosive devices, each containing 14-27 kg of a mixture of rdx and octogen, with timers on the Nord Streams at a depth of 70-80 m to the northeast and southeast of Bornholm Island.
The Italian ANSA news agency reported on August 22 that Kuznetsov had refused voluntary extradition to Germany. On the same day, ANSA reported that the Bologna court had decided to keep him in custody. Later, the Open edition reported that his sketch had been posted online. They also clarified that the Ukrainian faces up to 15 years in prison. Kuznetsov's detention in Italy was reported on August 21.
Leaks on gas pipelines were discovered in September 2022. Bjorn Lund, a representative of the Swedish seismic center, said that two powerful underwater explosions were registered in the area of pipeline leaks at the time of the emergency. After that, traces of explosives were found at the accident site. Russia is seeking an international investigation into the terrorist attacks.
