Taxi drivers will undergo mandatory medical and technical examinations on camera. The deputies plan to introduce such amendments to the law on technical inspection and road safety in the near future.

Carriers are asking for a 50% reduction in VAT, as is done in the catering industry.

As Dmitry Gusev, one of the authors of the bill, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Control, explained to Izvestia, the relevance of the 580-FZ adjustments is due to the critical situation in the passenger transportation industry.

"The vast majority of taxi drivers do not undergo inspections, going on flights with fake certificates that are purchased for money. Real corruption has flourished around those and medical examinations," he stressed.

Another bill, which is planned to be introduced in conjunction with this one, involves imposing the duty of aggregators to ensure that drivers can undergo various types of inspections.
