Patrushev spoke about measures to support breeding livestock

The Government continues to work on the development of the quality characteristics of the breeding stock within the framework of the national project "Technological food security". This was announced on August 11 by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev.

According to the press service of the Government of the Russian Federation, for the first time at the federal level, special support measures have been proposed aimed at stimulating scientific research and the introduction of innovative methods. They primarily concern genomic breeding, which makes it possible to quickly identify and consolidate useful productive qualities in agricultural animals that are necessary to accelerate the processes of breeding work.

One of the support measures is to reimburse up to 70% of the costs of conducting molecular genetic research of cattle. These scientific studies are aimed at increasing the growth rate of animal productivity and the volume of livestock production.

According to Patrushev, this year almost 500 million rubles have been allocated from the federal budget for these purposes. It is specified that any breeding farms in Russia that will use genomic breeding tools in their work will be able to receive support. In addition, the measure will be in demand from companies involved in the implementation of the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Agriculture.

"We expect that about 400 applicants may receive funds in 2025. In the future, we plan to increase the amount allocated for this area," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed Patrushev to keep the development of livestock breeding under his personal control.

Earlier, on April 18, Patrushev discussed agricultural development and environmental issues with the Governor of the Sakhalin Region, Valery Limarenko. According to Limarenko, the development of coastal fishing is a priority for the region, so one of the key topics of the meeting was the modernization of the Korsakov Commercial Seaport. The development plan for the Southern Bucket of the port provides for the creation of a technology park for the production of fishing and tourist vessels, as well as infrastructure for the entry of coastal fishing vessels.
