The United States has promised to consult with the European Union (EU) before a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump. This was announced on August 11 by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

According to him, the European group is in contact with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Tusk clarified that he had a detailed conversation with him on his own.

"The American side has also committed itself to hold consultations with its European partners before the meeting in Alaska," he said during a press conference at the Nitro—Chem enterprise, which was broadcast on the chancellery's website.

The Polish Prime Minister stressed that he has many fears and hopes about the meeting between Trump and Putin. According to him, European leaders also "feel uncertainty" about the outcome of this meeting.
