Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed issues of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan during a telephone conversation with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon. This was announced on Sunday, August 10, by the Kremlin's press service.
"Some topical issues of the bilateral agenda and preparations for the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, which is chaired by the Republic of Tajikistan this year, were touched upon," the Kremlin's website wrote.
In addition, during the conversation, Rahmon expressed support for efforts aimed at a long-term settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. Putin also informed his Tajik counterpart about Russian-American contacts, including a recent conversation with US Special envoy Stephen Witkoff, noting an agreement on an upcoming meeting with US leader Donald Trump in Alaska.
Earlier, on May 28, Putin discussed issues of strategic partnership and allied cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia with Chairman of the upper house of the Parliament of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali.
On April 25, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced that the trade turnover between Russia and Tajikistan had increased by 9%. The Head of government noted that Dushanbe continues to be an important ally and strategic partner of Moscow in Central Asia.
