Usually people eat fruits and vegetables, regardless of the time of fertilization of plants, however, this can affect the concentration of macro- and microelements in fruits, which can lead to poisoning. About this on August 8, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by Vladimir Neronov, an infectious disease specialist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg clinic).

The doctor advised not to eat fruits for an average of two weeks.

"This period depends on many factors, including the type of pesticides and fertilizers used, the type of plant, processing methods and environmental conditions. <...> For some vegetables and berries, the waiting period before consumption can range from three to 21 days," Neronov explained.

This period, according to the expert, depends on which fertilizer is used and for which plants. Some plants absorb chemicals faster than others.

The infectious disease specialist recommended thoroughly washing fruits and vegetables and thermally treating them to avoid poisoning and other undesirable effects from chemicals.

Earlier, on August 1, nutritionist Anton Polyakov told how much watermelon you can eat per day without harm to your health. The expert noted that, on average, a person is recommended to eat no more than 400-500 grams of watermelon per day.
