The United States has launched a visa issuance program secured by up to $15,000.
The US State Department has launched a pilot program in which some visas for visiting the country will be issued on a deposit of $ 5 to 15 thousand. The relevant document was published in the Federal Register on August 4.
"Consular staff may require nonimmigrant visa applicants eligible for the program to pay a deposit of up to $15,000 as a condition for issuing a visa," the publication says.
The program covers business and tourist visas (B-1 and B-2). A deposit may be required if the applicant is a citizen of a country identified by the State Department as having a high level of visa violations, or if information on identity verification is considered insufficient.
It is specified that the amount of bail will be set by the consular officer, depending on the personal circumstances of each applicant.
The pilot program is expected to be in effect for 12 months.
Earlier, on March 22, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik announced the sale of thousands of American "golden visas" per day. He added that the country's president, Donald Trump, believes that the authorities can sell a million such visas. Thus, the government plans to reduce the budget deficit.
