Members of the US Democratic Party are opposed to the nomination of former Vice President Kamala Harris for the presidential election in 2028. Many voters associate her with former American leader Joe Biden. This was reported by Politico on August 3.

"Some members of the [Democratic] Party would be happy if Harris did not run in the 2028 elections or did not actively campaign in the midterm elections," the article says.

According to Politico, the Democrats' fear is rooted in Harris' defeat in the 2024 elections — the burden of responsibility lies not only on Biden, but also on his former vice president. Despite this, Harris is "one of the most prominent figures" in the Democratic Party, thanks in part to a huge audience on social media.

One of the sources among Democrats from Southern California said that he would prefer that Harris did not participate in the elections, because voters associate her with Biden.

In May, Vladimir Vasiliev, chief researcher at the Institute of the USA and Canada, said that Biden and Harris are the leaders of the past, and the Democratic Party of the United States, he added, needs a new strong leader.

Later, on July 30, The Washington Post reported that Harris had not ruled out the possibility of running for the post of head of the White House. According to research conducted by Echelon Insights, Harris has potential support. If the preliminary elections were held now, 26% of the respondents would vote for her.
