Humanoid robot enrolled in graduate school in China
The Xueba 01 humanoid robot in China has entered graduate school for the first time. This was reported in the SCMP newspaper on August 1.
"The Shanghai Theater Academy, one of China's leading art schools, has officially accepted Xueba 01 for its postgraduate program...> Xueba 01 will study at a four—year postgraduate program in drama and cinema, focusing on traditional Chinese opera," the material says.
It is noted that the robot received a virtual student ID, and the famous Shanghai artist and professor Yang Qingqing became his mentor.
"Professor Yang said that if I don't get a higher education, I will be donated to the museum. That sounds pretty cool too. At least I will become a part of art history!" the publication quotes the robot's words on social networks.
The robot's name Xueba 01 is a reference to the slang term "xueba" (excellent student). He has anthropomorphic features, being 1.75 m tall and weighing 30 kg. It is reported that the humanoid has the silicone face of an adult man with a characteristic facial expression. He wears glasses, a shirt and trousers, and speaks Chinese.
On March 19, a Chinese company began accepting pre-orders for a humanoid robot equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) worth 199,000 yuan ($27,500), capable of deftly manipulating hands and walking. It is reported that the robot Dobot Atom, created by Dobot, can cook breakfast, pour milk, toast bread and bring boxes.
