The Prime Minister of Lithuania has resigned.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Palutskas has announced his resignation from office. President Gitanas Nauseda told reporters about this on July 31.
"Today's news is that Gintautas Palutskas called me this morning and announced his resignation," the Delfi portal quoted him as saying.
According to Nauseda, the government's policy will not tolerate fundamental changes after the resignation of the prime minister.
On July 24, Nauseda demanded that Paluckas clarify the situation surrounding the scandals involving him within two weeks or consider resigning from his post. The reason for the ultimatum was the investigation into the company Dankora, founded by Paluckas' niece. The company received a preferential loan from the ILTE development Bank and soon began purchasing from Garnis, of which the prime minister himself is a shareholder. The financial Police began pre-trial proceedings.
