Armenia's opening of the "gates" of the Syunik region, which borders Azerbaijan, will help the country's further development. Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturian stated this at a meeting in Syunik on July 29 .

"If we can open the gates of Syunik, I mean the possibilities of 43 km (the length of the transport corridor — Ed.), then you can be sure that the future will provide us with great opportunities for development. <...> We have not made a big discovery, but we are laying out the existing reality on the table and vividly present these opportunities, We understand how important these 43 km and Syunik are. Our goal is to sign a peace agreement in the near future," TASS quoted him as saying.

It is noted that the meeting was also attended by the Governor of Syunik region Robert Ghukasyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures David Khudatyan, representatives of law enforcement agencies and heads of communities of the region. During the meeting, the problems of the region, as well as the projects being implemented in it, were discussed.

Periodista Digital reported on July 23 that Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States have probably agreed on a memorandum of understanding on the creation of the Zangezur Corridor, which is called the "Trump Bridge" in the document. According to the memorandum, Armenia will retain sovereignty over this region. However, the corridor itself will be operated by a private American company in accordance with the license obtained.
