In the USA, a record-breaking large white shark with a length of over 4 m was discovered off the coast of Nantucket. This was reported on July 23 by the MassLive portal, citing data from the OCEARCH organization.

"The adult male shark, named Contender, is an impressive 13 feet 9 inches (4.19 m) long and weighs 1,653 pounds (749.79 kg). Researchers from a global non—profit organization dubbed him the "absolute warrior of the ocean," the publication says.

It is specified that this shark has become the largest in the history of research conducted by the marine research organization OCEARCH. According to her staff, after the discovery of this individual in the states of Florida and Georgia, they began to monitor her in order to better study her.

The shark was named Contender because of the organization's partner, Contender Boats. It is specified that this company supplies ships on which it is possible to conduct research voyages, she added.Газета.Ru ".
