In 2023, the oceans warmed to record levels, which could contribute to climate change. This was reported on July 24 by Science magazine with reference to the results of a study by a group of Chinese scientists.

The marine waves of the temp (MW) lasted four times longer than usual. They also covered 96% of the ocean. In addition, the MW lasted 525 days in the North Atlantic. In the eastern Pacific Ocean, the temperature of the waves rose by 1.63 degrees during the fluctuations.

According to scientists, such indicators are associated with a decrease in clouds, wind and changes in currents. They also believe that overheating of the oceans in 2023 could predict major shifts in the Earth's climate.

According to the magazine, such climatic changes pose a threat to marine ecosystems and contribute to the death of corals. It will also damage fisheries and aquaculture.

Earlier, on July 25, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin invited the Caspian littoral countries to jointly solve the problem of shallowing the Caspian Sea and work on creating a long-term model for forecasting fluctuations in its level. According to him, the Russian Federation is ready to share forest monitoring systems from satellites and drones with states.
