The Russian synchronized swimming team brought eight medals from Singapore.
The Russian synchronized swimming team returned to Moscow from the World Championships in Singapore, where it won eight medals, three of them of the highest standard. All the gold medals belong to Alexander Maltsev, who has already become a seven-time champion thanks to his victories in competitions. The athletes were greeted in a solemn atmosphere at Sheremetyevo Airport.
"It was very difficult and responsible, because during the six years we were away, the rules changed, the sport changed dramatically. We didn't know all the details, we worked to the maximum and were very happy with the results," Maltsev shared.
According to the coaches, the Russian national team, even despite the long break, loudly declared itself. The opponents did not expect that the Russians would be able to perform so well at the World Cup. But thanks to the skill, grueling training and the desire to win, our synchronized swimmers showed first-class results.
On July 23, Russian synchronized swimmers Maya Gurbanberdieva and Maltsev won the technical program in the mixed duet competition at the World Aquatics Championships. The result of the Russian was 233.2100 points. The Spanish couple Mireya Hernandez Luna and Dennis Gonzalez Boneu took the second place, they scored 230.4634 points.
