Sports fuel, such as AI-102 or AI-110, will have almost no noticeable effect if poured into a regular production car. This was stated by Vadim Strelbitsky, director of the Avilon Kia Mechanical Repair Department, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported on July 21.

This gasoline is designed for high-performance turbocharged or high-compression engines and can contribute to power gains of up to 10-15%, especially in the midrange range. This is due to improved combustion of the mixture and a reduced risk of detonation, the specialist explained.

For conventional road vehicles, the electronic engine control systems automatically adapt to the fuel, resulting in a power difference of 1-2% at best. At the same time, sports fuel costs significantly more than regular fuel at a gas station — about 200-600 rubles per liter.

"It is important to take into account the technical nuances. For example, in old carburetor engines, such fuel can cause overheating, and in modern engines, without appropriate electronics settings, its potential will remain undiscovered," Strelbitsky said.

Earlier, on July 14, auto expert Alexey Balashov said that many Chinese automakers allow the use of AI-92 instead of AI-95, but refueling cars with a turbo engine with low-octane fuel is not recommended. The expert called overheating of the turbine another problem from using AI-92 instead of AI-95.
