The media learned about the failure of the prisoner exchange in Syria due to non-compliance with the ceasefire.

The prisoner exchange planned in Syria's Al-Suwayda was not carried out due to a militia attack on the village of Arika in the north-west of the province. This was reported on July 20 by Sham TV, citing local sources.

"The prisoner exchange, scheduled for 18:00 local time (coincides with Moscow time) today in the village of Umm ez-Zaitoun, failed," the Telegram channel said.

A meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Damascus is scheduled for the evening of July 17.

On July 19, the press service of Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced his order to immediately impose a ceasefire in the province of Al-Suwayda. It was clarified that he also warned against any violation of this decision, as this "would entail the necessary legal measures."
