Lavrov pointed to the almost complete coincidence of the approaches of the Russian Federation and the DPRK in foreign policy.

Russia and the DPRK have almost complete convergence of approaches in the foreign policy sphere, as well as active actions on both sides to support each other's positions in the UN and other multilateral platforms. This was announced on July 12 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee in Wonsan.

In addition, he recalled that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement concluded with the DPRK back in 2024 reflects the allied character.

"The treaty lays down the most important principles of our cooperation in the international arena, our alliance in repelling hostile actions in any attempts to carry out aggression against any of the parties," the Russian Foreign Minister said, answering a question from Izvestia correspondent Nikolai Ivanov.

According to the minister, the document also provides for bilateral cooperation in the scientific and cultural fields. He noted that Russian language learning programs already exist in the DPRK, and Korean language centers have been opened in Russia. Exchanges of events and tours by Russian and Korean troupes have also become regular.

The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and the DPRK was signed on June 19, 2024. It was clarified that the ceremony took place within the framework of the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the DPRK.
