The administration of US President Donald Trump exerted pressure on African countries, trying to force them to accept migrants deported from the United States. This was reported on July 9 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.

"During President Trump's meeting on Wednesday with the leaders of five West African countries, his administration pressured them to accept migrants deported by the United States whose home countries refuse to accept them," the publication says.

It is noted that the relevant requests were received by the leaders of Liberia, Senegal, Mauritania, Gabon and Guinea-Bissau after arriving at the White House for a meeting with Trump.

On May 5, the US Department of Homeland Security announced the government's plan to pay illegal migrants $1,000 each if they decide to leave the country on their own initiative. It was clarified that in order to receive payments, migrants need to register in the CBP Home application. After returning to his native country, which will be confirmed through the application, the US administration will transfer $ 1 thousand.
