France called the demilitarization of Ukraine a "red line" for Europe
European countries consider Russia's demand for the demilitarization of Ukraine unacceptable. He stressed that this is an absolute "red line" for France. This was stated on July 9 by French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecorny in an interview with the French magazine Valeurs actuelles.
"Our red line is the demilitarization of Ukraine. We cannot deny her membership in NATO and at the same time not give her an army. <...> Otherwise, her neighbors are at risk," he said.
According to him, Ukraine should be able to ensure its own security, she added."Газета.Ru ".
Lecorny noted that the "coalition of the willing" contributes to the formation of the Ukrainian army of the future, while for France it opens up opportunities for the development of industry. The minister pointed out that Ukraine cannot indefinitely depend on the Starlink satellite communication systems and the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system, while Germany and the United States are already focused on protecting their own interests.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, responding to a question from Izvestia on July 9, said that the supply of weapons to Kiev from Berlin, in particular, harms the population of Ukraine. According to Zakharova, such supplies are supposedly necessary for Ukrainian independence, but in fact the initiative is destructive for the country itself.
