Nine people were killed and 400 others injured during rallies in Kenya, which are attended by a large number of young people. This was reported on June 25 by the Daily Nation newspaper.

According to her, a wave of protests broke out in 27 districts of the country.

According to the Associated Press, the rallies broke out against the background of police brutality against local residents. In particular, thousands of young people headed to the central business district of the capital Nairobi. During the protests, local media were banned from broadcasting live. The demonstrations coincided with the anniversary of last year's demonstrations against tax increases, when 60 people died.

In addition, there were already rallies in the country last week: Kenyans demanded an answer from the authorities because of the unexplained death of a blogger who was in custody. The Associated Press emphasizes that the discontent of the younger generation in Kenya is connected, in addition to the increase in police violence, with economic difficulties and the "mismanagement" of the government of the state.

A shoe was thrown at Kenyan President William Ruto on May 4 in Migori District in the west of the country during his speech on the living wage, which provoked anger from those present. It was clarified that the Kenyan leader blocked the flying shoes with his hand and, judging by the three videos, was not injured.
