- The Los Angeles authorities announced the normalization of the situation after the outbreak of riots.
The situation in Los Angeles is gradually stabilizing after the night riots. This was announced on Monday, June 9, by Hilda Solis, Chairman of the interim commission of the district Council.
"It was a real emergency — people had to leave the city because of the destruction and chaos. Now this regime has been lifted," CNN quoted her as saying.
At the same time, Solis clarified that some highways remain closed and traffic is limited.
Also, the head of the interim commission of the district council urged local residents not to succumb to provocations that the Los Angeles administration "doesn't care about the city."
On the eve of May 8, mass protests began in California due to migration raids, during which 45 people were detained. Then US President Donald Trump ordered the National Guard to be sent to the state to stop the riots, which was condemned by the governors of 22 states, who regarded it as an "abuse of power." The head of state, in turn, said that without the National Guard, Los Angeles would have been wiped off the face of the earth.
