Musk sharply criticized Trump's budget project
American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk on Tuesday, June 3, sharply opposed the new draft budget proposed by the administration of US President Donald Trump.
"I'm sorry, but I just can't take it anymore. This huge, outrageous <...> the congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination," Musk wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
He added that the project would significantly increase the budget deficit to $2.5 trillion and impose an unbearable debt burden on American citizens.
"Shame on those who voted for him. You know what you did was wrong. You know that," the businessman added.
Earlier, on May 15, the media reported on the risk of an increase in the US budget deficit to $5.2 trillion due to Trump's project. It is specified that the project itself will cost the treasury $ 3.8 trillion. According to brokerage companies, due to tax cuts, the legislation will "significantly" expand the budget deficit in the short term — by 0.2% of GDP in fiscal year 2025 and by about 0.9% of GDP in 2026.
Earlier, on May 29, Musk announced the end of his term as a special government employee of the United States. He thanked Donald Trump for the "opportunity to reduce wasteful spending" by the government. On June 1, the businessman stated that he did not agree with the presidential administration in everything and was not ready to "take responsibility" for all the actions it was taking.
